Mount: My pony Flying Solo a.K.a Solo
Time: 1 hour
Number of other riders: 1
Goal: To have a nice clean round over a course of jumps and to have proper position over the jumps and for my leg to stay absolutely still, and for Solo to get the timing and approach to the jumps right, and not to take off too early, chip it, or overjump.

Performance: Solo was great! He got his leads perfectly in each direction, his flying leads were flawless. I was proud that we had a nice clean round, and my position was good as well. We timed our approaches just right as well =] Oh and there were no chips, overjumps or taking off too early. His pace was pretty muc perfect!
Next Time: He is my pony so only I ride him. Next week i will work on our transitions. I want them to be smooth and i will work on walk to trot, trot to canter, canter to trot, trot to walk, walk to canter, and halt to canter as well as halt to trot.

Name: Jill
Date: March 3, 2007
Weather: The sun was out, but it was really windy.
Mount: Peaches
Time: One Hour
Number of other riders: 2
Goal: Learn more about how to control Peaches and get her to listen to me right away. Understand what was being taught by my instructor. work = At the beginning of the lesson, we had to lunge our horses because it was so windy. We didn't want the horses to get spooked, so we had to make sure they were comfortable with the wind and everything it blew into the arena. Then we did our warm-ups. These include trotting(sitting and posting) and one iron exercises and no iron exercises. After that, we worked on shoulder ins/outs on the rails.
Work:
Performance: When I was lunging Peaches, it took a while for her to do what I had asked her to do. When I mounted up, she pretty much listened to me. There were a couple of times durning the lesson when she wanted to go the opposite way of where I was telling her to go. When I was tacking her up and untacking her, she got a little spooked from the wind, but it was nothing major. Overall, she was a good horse. Before I dismounted, she would keep walking after I told her to stop. I had to keep telling her to stop until she eventually stood still. Also, during my lesson when we were doing shoulder ins and outs, she thought that me applying leg meant to go faster, so she began trotting when we were supposed to be walking. I had to keep applying pressure with my legs and turning her in circles until she stopped so that she would understand that leg doesn't alwaya mean go faster.
Next Time: People who ride Peaches need to make sure that she understands that you are the boss and not her. They can't give in to what she wants to do. You always have to make sure that she respects you and listens to what you tell her to do. Once she realizes that she is not always going to do what she wants, she will give in and begin to pay more attention the the person riding her.

Number of other riders: 6
Goal: My goal was to keep control of Jazz when she spooked[we were on a trail ride] [ I knew she would]
Work: We rode through the woods, fields, and on a road. We mainly walked and did some trotting.
Performance: Jazz spooked twice when stormy started trotting to keep up with the group [she's a pony] Jazz was a race horse 10 years ago, and the first thing she was taught was to not let a horse pass her. So she got freaked out when I held her back. i stayed on.
Next Time: You should be light in the arena, she only uses a hackamore because she is so light. You should always be ready on a trail. Other riders could help by telling you if they are going to go faster or if they see something before you do that might spook her.

Goal: To have some good courses and make Jack look pretty and stay in a frame at the canter (he's a jerk about that)
Work: Mark had me working on not releasing over the jumps because Jack has a short neck and doesn't need one. I have the bad habit to release A LOT because of the horse I used to ride.
Performance: Jack was pretty good. He was a big brat about the frame at the canter and when I let go at all he'd get really fast, but other then that, he was great...exspecially when we jumped!
Next Time: Nothing really...Jack's been pretty good and the other girl that rides him, Lauren, is a short stirrup girl that can't really get him into a frame yet.

Number of other riders: At the most there were 6

Work: I worked on keeping Chip collected..finding all the right distances..and not slipping everywhere because the footing was slick.
Performance: Chip was FABULOUS today!!! Compared to last weeks episode at the show he deffinitly redeemed himself! Even when the cows were running around he didn't mind and he did his job. He also behaved very well when the wind picked up and the rain came down very hard while we were cantering all alone in a ring down away from everyone, which was kind of scary but he was great.
Next Time: COUNTER CANTER!!! During my Charles Owen Test i couldn't pick it up!
Goal met? Well, the junior medals didn't fill but we won the Marshall and Sterling Children's Hunter Classic, so I'd say YES!

Name: Katie
Date: March 26, 2005
Weather: Pretty nice and sunny...the ring was mostly dried out.
Mount: Marty (grey pony that always tries to run me over on the ground) :-)
Time: about 15 minutes
Number of other riders: about 4 or 5
Goal: To get Marty to walk around the ring without being led.
Work: Getting him to walk around the ring without stopping. We also trotted a little bit (a big thing for this pony!)
Performance: He was great! :-)
Next Time: getting him to trot a little more
Goal met? yes!

Name: Emily Weber

Mount: Milli
Time: half an hour
Number of other riders: 4
Goal: To keep my leg tight , to canter slowly over the jumps and to get better at my lead changes.
Work: I mostly worked on cantering slowly and my lead changes and a little bit of keeping my leg tight. Also since I have a green pony she and I are learning to jump 2 feet. We are also preparing to do a show at Sandy Point this weekend.
Performance: She was basically good but she was a little frisky.
Next Time: The ssame thing exept since I am half leasing the owner is at a different level so she woulld work on other stuff.
Goal met? Yes I think I did.

Name: Lauren
Date: October
Weather: It was sunny, brisk, and beautiful =)
Mount: Boink
Time: 2.5-3 hours
Number of other riders: 2 others, Jane and Rosie, with Robin and Gator =)
Goal: My goal was to just have a good time! I also wanted Boink to behave (he's been borderline behavior on the trails...haha), and i wanted to expose him to a newer enviroment. Also i wanted to get him through some WATA!!! =)
Work: Nothing in particular...Just having fun, and staying away from Gators butt! haha.
Performance: He did AWESOME! We had to cross a high way, and he did WONDERFUL, we went through briars, stepped over stone walls (where a horse could easily break his legs... :/), went down Stoney Fort rd (which is pretty crazy at times), and we crossed a 'water hole' that was a good 2feet deep- And for all that and having never done most of it...He did absoutly amazing, i'm so proud of him.
Next Time: Same thing. I really want to get him 'trail broke' so to speak so he'll be ready for anything once we move - And seeing a huge bear with her cubs run across a trail won't seem like a horse-eating monster....and where snomobiles won't feel like the same thing to him.
Goal met? Of Course - We all had a G*R*E*A*T time! <33

Name: Emily
Date: May 15
Weather: Beautiful, in upper 80's lower 90's
Mount: Reunion
Time: 3 hours
Number of other riders: 2 others, Jen and Robin
Goal: Just to not be as nervous on trails and get Reunion to make tighter turns and collect his canter
Work: Working on trails and collecting his canter
Performance: Great, his canter was a little sloppy at first but near the end he collected it and did great. And as long as we stayed in this order (Gator, Savannah, Reunion) everything was great and no one had a problem, it was only when we got out of order that things got a little rough.
Next Time: Collecting his canter and making him turn tighter, he makes too wide of turns and always smashes peoples legs on trees.
Goal met? Yes!

Name: Samantha
Date: May 20
Weather: Nice...
Mount: Taz
Time: An hour
Number of other riders: One or two. I forget.
Goal: To ride him for the 1st time in 2 months without his triangle lift bit, see how he's coming along on the head thing. Get his left lead and at least ONE flying change.
Work: Keeping his head up (but I didn't have to work very hard, he was almost perfect without the lift!), extending and collecting at the trot and canter, collecting through lines.
Performance: Good, but I'm not taking him off the triangle lift permantely yet, just gonna wait until after the show to try it. I don't want him to figure out he doesn't have it in when the show rolls around...That'd stink.
Next Time: Working him through lines and opening circles with the triangle lift bit, getting him ready for the show. Work on left lead, extending, collecting, flying changes and lines.
Goal met? Yeah

Name: Lauren
Date: May 11
Weather: BEAUTIFUL!!! 86!!!!
Mount: Boink
Time: 2 1/2 hours
Number of other riders: Just me and my dog-he followed and layed under the trees and watched :D
Goal: My goal for the ride was to touch-up on little things that Boink needed to work on more. I also wanted to get ATLEAST 2-3 hours of riding in, and do so without any "tude" from Boink.
Work: We worked on figure 8's at the trot to help pick up his shoulders and learn his feet, extended jog, lopeing small circles, and pivots in boxes. We also worked on backing up (which he did ok on considering the Cox Cable guy was out there distracting him...*grr*), and i'm in the process of trying to get him to walk over a piece of plywood...so far he got a toe on and then jumped away from it like it was gonna eat him.
Performance: Boink is AWESOME considering. He did throw a little attitude here and there but he got focused again and started paying a lot more attention to me and what he's supposed to be doing instead of thinking how many new channels he's going to be able to watch through Alicia's windows when the Cox Cable Man is done hooking the T.V. up...
Next Time: We are going to alternate and do what we did today every other day. Next time i ride (twomarrow), i'm going to work on ground work with him. He doesn't have a lot of manners on the lead line so i'm going to work with him on that, and maybe some longeing too.
Goal met? Yes we did.

Name: Allison
Date: 3/27/04
Weather: sloppy rainy day(yuck)
Mount: Spencer
Time: 1 hour
Number of other riders: 7 people
Goal: to keep spencer cantering over the jumps and in the flat classes.
Work: giving spencer a nugde on his belly to keep him from troting over the jumps and to keep him cantering in the two flat classes.
Performance: he did really well but we didnt get pind at all. (bo woo)
Next Time: i was thinking of doing the same thing that i did that day because we did really well at the horse show .
Goal met? of course

Name: Jane

Weather: Rainy...really REALLY rainy!!!
Mount: the one and only RUBY
Time: 1 hour and 30min
Number of other riders: just me and a girl working out rudy(not in my lesson)
Goal: to get ruby to keep and consistant pace around the like 3' course(she doesn't jump that high normally.....this was the first larger course for her in about a year).
Work: slowing it down and getting rosie to use her body to help her get over the jumps beautifully!!! and i worked on not diving to the right over the fences!!! I DID IT!! YEAH
Performance: she did great. we both got an EXCELENT work out!!! and alot of commliments!! (from the people watching!!)
Next Time: same as usual....slowing it down and making rosie wait to get closer to the base of the jump and listening to her rider!!
Goal met? I did!!!

Next Time: Leadchanges....I guess....

Name: Samantha
Date: March 9, 2004
Weather: Chilly, breezy, and snow flurries (ew)
Mount: Taz, my new horse.
Time: An hour or so. Lost track of time.
Number of other riders: None, but a lesson came in for the last 5 minutes. It was only a private.
Goal: To get Taz's left lead (he's really sticky), get him off my hands (lugs his head to the ground), and not let him be a little brat (bucks on occasion)
Work: Getting his left lead, keeping his head up, bending & flexing, not letting him look into the other fields, and keeping him under control at the canter.
Performance: Pretty good, he was very interested in the field next to the ring, because Jay was sticking her head through the fencing. He got his left lead a few times, after about 15 tries into/out of corners, on straight aways... Blah.
Next Time: Left lead again, bending & flexing, keeping him collected, getting him to relax his neck at the canter, and keeping him off my hands!
Goal met? Sort of.

Name: Lauren
Date: February 17
Weather: Sunny, chilly...BEAUTIFUL!
Mount: Boink
Time: 1 hour
Number of other riders: Just me
Goal: To work on somethings that needed to be worked on, and just getting a good exercise in and getting a little energy out...He had a lot from not being ridden for a few weeks.
Work: We went up and down steep hills to get his legs built up like we do every ride, and we also worked on turns and walking without keeping his head at an angle like he's looking at something behind him...He does that a lot and i'm trying to break the habbit.
Performance: He did really good minus the small bucks and a little attitude.
Next Time: The same things we worked on today. It's going to need to be persistant so he kicks his bad habbit, and gets nice strong legs.
Goal met? As far as him being a good boy and listening..yes...but i won't know if he stops the head thing until he...stops...
